Going back to basics.
I began my natural hair journey back in 2014. After the birth of Bear, I was doing fine for a while with my hair until the natural postpartum shedding occurred. And I was no prepared for the amount of hair loss I had. So I decided to cut it all off!
And then I grew it out!
And then I got a bored so I cut it off again!
And then I did protective braids!
And finally, I just rocked my own hair!
After my journey so far, I can say I really want to go all the back to basics:
Shampoo
Conditioner
Grease
I’ve tried numerous hair products over the year and I consider myself to be something of a hair product junkie. I’ve made some great finds and some not-so great finds. But I remember a time where things were just so simple. Really – wash it and forget it simple.
I have a small child and running my own blog and what have you, I don’t have a lot of time to put into my hair. I don’t want to go out looking unkempt but I don’t want to spend too much time doing my hair when I could be done already.
So I decided to just go back to the basics and for this entire 2021, I want to attempt to grow bra-strap length hair using only those three products.
Now, I do have some *rules* for myself:
- I can only use those three products. No curling cream, no twisting cream, no gel, and nothing else.
- I can use different types of shampoo and conditioner, as long as it’s just shampoo and conditioner.
- I can use co-washing conditioner.
- I need to wash my hair at least twice a week.
- Protective styles are fine.
A few disclaimers:
- My hair does grow pretty quickly on its own due to genetics.
- I am taking a prenatal vitamin.
- I have very fine hair.
- I have Type 4a hair.
I’m eager to see how much my hair grows by the end of the year.
Do you have any hair goals?
